2010 Throwback

Today, while updating Adi's V-Reader, Ryan and I came across over 700 photos of Adi from July 2010 that we didn't even know we had...

We started the day off by attending the Capitol Hill Ward in hopes of seeing David Archuleta. And, while Ryan did end up seeing him. I did not. Me? Bitter? Never...

After Church, Sunday, July 4th, 2010 - Washington DC

She was pretty dang cute.

Later that night we headed to the Pentagon heli-pad to watch the fireworks with some of our favorite people... (I can't believe how tiny Sabrina is!)

Brent, Shelly, Lincoln, Gavin, Genevieve. Simon, and Sabrina. Love them.

Adi had a blast...

Seriously. How cute is she!?

Around that same time, we headed out for a night on the mall...

My Binx was as big as the Capitol! (:

Such a cutie with her daddy. Can't believe she was so little!

Cat nap anyone?

I miss that town. But not just the town. My little family in that town.

Sigh... someday.

Meeting Baby Gillian

After two months of waiting and the first stop in town, I finally got to meet Baby Gillian! And, I have to declare, she's pretty. dang. cute. (Erin and Mark, you sure do make cute babies!)

And, I was finally able to give her the gift I made...

"I Am a Child of God" framed art that I made!

(I started looking for something like this on Etsy, but they were crazy expensive and didn't come in the colors I wanted, so I got crafty and made my own. Next time I'd like to try a thicker font, but in person, this one is just the right amount of purple. )

We of course headed for some delicious food as is tradition in that town and this time tried at Vapiano. (I'd been wanting to since 2009!) Yummy.

"You have a baby, in a bar." (:

Over the course of the next few days we were able to see Erin and Mark a few times, but let's be honest, I was definitely interested in snuggling this little girl. Such an angel!

Sunday, Erin and Mark let me crash at their place all day and I was able to do tummy time with her, hold her, snuggle her. It was the best.

Snuggling with a sleeping Gilly.

Couldn't resist. So tiny. So perfect!

Can't wait to make it back there next month! She will have grown two more months!

Seriously Er, you need a blog, cause I'm having withdrawals. (:

Picture-Text Fest

Kenz has been in Washington this week. Every time she goes I ask her to take lots of pictures, she asks me to take lots of pictures, and this is what you get: a picture texting fest.

The conversation went along these lines:

Kenz: We're here!
Me: Send a picture!

Kenz: Here you go! (The Capitol from the House side. I used to run down that hill daily.)
Me: Cool!

Hours later ...
Me: Send a picture!
Kenz:

Me: Fun!
Kenz: We're eating dinner. (Busboys and Poets, where Binx had her first solid food.)

Which happened to be a sweet potato fry ...

Next day ...
Kenz: How's the weather there?
Me: Cold, don't know.
Kenz: Is it snowing?
Me: Hold on ...

Me: Boo.
Kenz: DC Traffic is awful. It's going to take me 2 hours to get to VA.
Me: Send a picture.
Kenz:

Me: Bwahahaha. (Just kidding.)
Me: We're going to a movie.

After the movie ...
Me:

Next day ...
Kenz: Good morning!
Me: Good morning, shoes.

Me: Did you go to the outlets in Leesburg?
Me: She's singing and being a princess.

Me: You like?

Kenz: You like? (I like cuff links.)
Me: Where are you?
Kenz: The Masonic temple.

Me: I got these for her. (She's sleeping.)

Me: We're looking at cars.
(Proceeded by a picture of every car we looked at with Binx in various stages of crawling around their clean interiors.)

Me: I get this?

Kenz: (no response)
Me: Okay, I got it.

Me: Bedtime story.

Next Day ...
Me: Grandpa gave her this for breakfast.

Kenz: That's what I thought.
Me: She's hiding it from grandma.

Kenz: Look at this cute baby.

Kenz: Look at this sandwich I'm eating. (Which happens to be my favorite sandwich ever - Jimmy John's Beach Club.)

Me: Grandpa made bowls for us, which do you like more?
Kenz: Fun!

Next time, I'm asking for more pictures of monuments and fewer pictures of shoes and sandwiches. And, I'm going to Jimmy John's for dinner.

H Street Country Club

Last week, before I left Washington, I had the wonderful privilege to have dinner with Jose, Maria, and their beautiful children!

Being the native East Coasters that they are (and the fact that Jose works for the city), they know the best restaurants in every nook and cranny in that town, and I feel fortunate that each time I visit, I am the beneficiary of delicious new cuisine.

This time it was the H Street Country Club (a restaurant, bar, and mini-golf area) on the H Street Corridor. I've only been that direction twice (both times with them) and it's a great little area.

Jose and I had cabbed over while Maria drove in with the kids, and while Jose helped with the kids I ran to grab a table.

When I walked inside, the host asked me something, but he mumbled and I couldn't quite understand. Then, I asked if I could have a table upstairs and he repeated himself, "ID". OOOOOOOOooooohhhh.

Buahahahhahahahahhaha.

I had never been ID'd before and it was great. Everything and more than I expected. In fact, I even got a little giddy telling them that I'd never been ID'd before. I could tell by the way they looked at me sideways that they were a little concerned that at age 25 I'd never been ID'd. So classic.

Anyway, dinner was so. much. fun. I LOVE this family. The restaurant was delicious (best guacamole ever) and really fun...

Toaster lights and all!

It was sooo great to meet little Carlos for the first time...

And to see Mariana again, she's getting so big!

And of course Gabby. LOVE that smart little girl!

Thank you for making my trip wonderful. We love you and miss you!
