Mall Madness
Posted by
McKenzie
Every once in a while, we take this little Binx to the playground at the mall. (I'm a little skeptical because parents basically let their kids run wild and it drives me a little nuts...)
A few weeks ago we did this with Adi and it was a lot of fun!
She had fun riding the bones...
And making friends...
And we even did our own photo booth!
I love this silly little girl!

Vintage Fun Repeat!

We had so much fun seeing Spider Man at the drive-in, that we decided to go back!
This time we saw "The Dark Knight Rises".
Adi was naughty. Naughty, naughty, naughty, and wouldn't go to sleep... But, despite my serious frustration in the moment and panic at her actually watching the movie, I can't blame her. Who wants to be stuck in a car for three hours? (Note to self: when going to the drive in, either a) get a babysitting, or b) bring real food (not just candy), a portable DVD player, and sit outside the car.)
Anyway, I actually enjoyed this Batman. I hated the Dark Knight, so I was pleasantly surprised.
Here is a wrap up of before the movie. I should have known that Adi would want to hop around the entire time.

Summer Weddings

Within the next week, we have four summer weddings! Yesterday began the festivities with Ryan's cousin, Dani's reception. She and Jon are the most beautiful couple and their reception was gorgeous! Jon is going to be attending BYU, so they'll be moving down to Provo in the next year or so, and we're so excited to have them close!
Congratulations Dani and Jon!
We got there a few minutes early to catch the last of the photos...
And then headed inside for the party...
Dani's vision for her reception was simply gorgeous. Shabby chic with old and new touches.
It was in an old hardware building that has been converted into office space. It was beautiful The industrial feel was contemporary, but the exposed brick made it timeless.
Adi had fun seeing Grandma Jennifer and Papa...

I loved the hanging tea lights, banners, and other table decorations and flowers too!
Adi liked meeting the "princess...
And the ice cream bar and darling chalk board ideas were darling.
Yes, please.

And danced her little heart out...

Vintage Fun!

A few weeks ago we drove to West Valley City one Friday evening to go to the Drive-in Movie at the Redwood Drive-in!
It was soooo awesome!
It reminded me of when I was a kid, except this theater had six screens!
We ran into some of Ryan's Red Cross buddies, who happened to have driven a vintage car to the theater to make the experience more authentic. LOVED it.
We saw The Incredible Spider Man and we loved it--although I'm not so keen on Adi staying up that late, watching the whole movie (we thought she would have fallen asleep).
Here are some pictures from the super fun evening!

City Sidewalks, Busy Sidewalks

Dressed in holiday lights!
Ryan and I have always enjoyed looking at the holiday lights in downtown Provo. It started as a tradition over four years ago on a snowy December night...
December 2007 | Provo avec la neige :)
And we've tried to continue the tradition over the years. This year Adi took an interest in lights and music, so it was fun taking her to see the music and timed lights at the Police Department...

Holiday Weekends

This past weekend was busy and interesting to say the least. It started with these classic moments, had a few ups and downs, but ended on a wonderful note...
Saturday afternoon, we drove up to Salt Lake to meet Ryan's family at Temple Square. It was so much fun!
It was cold outside so we started inside the Visitor's Center. Adi saw the Christus and wanted to give it a hug. I love the ideas that she comes up with! His arms are open. (:
After leaving Temple Square we headed to Ryan's parent's for their annual Christmas dinner. Can I say yummy. I failed to get a picture, but we had such yummy food and even crab legs. We toasted the coming year, and to say that I am excited about 2012 would be an understatement. Gonna be the best. year. yet.

On our way out we stopped to listen to a choir performing, Adi liked that too. She started to sing along.
After making our way outside, we caught the nativity story about halfway through.
And although Adi really liked the manger scene, she cried when the lights went out and said, "broken!" And had a really rough time with it. So... we stayed to see it again.
Stars are one of Adi's favorite things, so I had Ryan snap a picture of the manger with the star.
And even made it into the Salt Lake Tabernacle (I'd never been inside before.)
On our way out, we asked a nice family to take a picture of us. Just another reason I need to invest in a really nice camera. Sometimes the iPhone just really doesn't do it for me. But happy we got one just the same. :)

A few weeks ago, Ryan told me about FotoFly. I'm not sure where he learned about them, but after looking at the gallery, I was hooked.
So, we scheduled our five-minute slot. Friday was the big day and we dressed Adi up to meet the jolly old elf himself. She was really excited when she saw Santa, although still apprehensive. (I won't mention that I've been priming her since September...) But, the nice thing about FotoFly is that the parents can dress up like Santa if you feel like your kids will do better.
So, Ryan donned the red suit, and voila!
An almost-smile, she still wanted me. (And notice Ryan's awesome watch... :)
LOVE this. (Just wish the bow weren't covering her face so much.)
So sweet.
Merry Christmas!
Our Family
