The Most Memorable Fortune Cookie, Ever.

Sometimes I wonder about many of the little things.

Do they just happen or are they each part of the greater plan, tender mercies (1 Nephi 1:20) if you will.

While I my never know the actual answer to that question, for me, the belief in the small things as more than simple coincidence, provides a backdrop of positivity to life and the circumstances we face.

Yesterday, Ryan and I made significant headway on his being accepted to Medical School. To celebrate, we decided to go out to dinner. We had already had our eat-out-once-a-week dinner the night before, but we were in the mood to go out for Chinese for the first time in our married life.

So, after making some headway on holiday shopping, we found ourselves enjoying a delicious dinner of wonton soup and lettuce wraps at P.F. Changs.

Yummy.

But, it wasn't until the end of the meal that the whole experience was cemented into our minds.

We finished eating and our waitress, Erika, brought us fortune cookies.

I opened mine, nothing special.

Adi opened hers, nothing special.

Ryan opened his, and his eyebrows shot up at the same his jaw dropped with a "no-way" smile.

This was his fortune.

Serendipity or tender mercy, or both, we may never know. For us it was a reminder that we are always watched over regardless of whether or not we know the outcomes to the various plots of our lives.
