Day 11: The Friend

Wow. 4:50am comes early, especially on a 19-degree morning, but after a good run I feel physically, emotionally, and mentally better. (Did I really just say that? Who am I?)

Last week was very busy. I worked on my challenge, but missed a few days, so over the next few days I want to get caught up.

Today's invitation is Abide (Luke 24:13-32); Learn to use your scriptures to receive personal revelation from the Lord. Find a scripture that speaks to you. Let His Spirit abide in your heart by reflecting on that scripture throughout the day.

Yesterday Ryan and I reflected on our friends Lori and Wes. They have been such a light to us--especially Lori. She is so wonderful and graceful. We talked about the purpose of life and the eternal perspective. We conjectured that after this life, the concept of time must change to a more eternal perspective, but that it doesn't make this life any easier.

But, this life is the time to prepare to meet God and meeting the challenge is simplified through our Savior Jesus Christ. As I read Luke 24, I read a note that I made as a 20-year-old college student, "I know that my Redeemer Lives!"

I do know that my Redeemer lives. Jesus Christ was resurrected to provide a way for each of us to return not only to God, but to our loved ones. If this is true and it is (I know it is, I challenge you to ask God if it is true.), Christ is able to abide with us during our needed hours. He is our elder brother; He is our friend.

Praise to the Lord, who doth proser they way and defend thee.
Surely his goodness and mercy shall ever attend thee.
Ponder anew What the Almighty can do,
Who with his love doth befriend thee."

I love that you are doing this, it's such a great thing to do to remember and think of the things we should during this season. It's kind of hard to remember it's coming close to Christmas during the crazy hot temperatures here!
