Fellow friends and bloggers, I need some help! Ryan and I are in search of a photographer who has experience working with infants. We would like to have pictures taken of baby Adi within the first couple weeks, so we want to get started finding the right person.
My old roommate recently had picture of her little guy taken...
and (to state the obvious) they are fabulous, but of course, the photographer is in Vegas.
I've seen a few pictures that I like, but nothing quite what we want. I have a vision of a little nude baby with a large, pink peony headband (in the works), with pearls (we're thinking costume jewelry). I found a few that have that same pink flower feel...
but again, not quite there. Here are some other pictures that came up on a google search that I liked...

But if you have any recommendations or know a good photographer around Provo (or who will be around Provo mid-February). Please leave a comment with your suggestion! Also, if you know of a good recommendation for birth announcements (I want something nice printed on a heavy paper) leave that info too.

My little sister does photography (she did Dee Fawcett's daughter's wedding a few weeks back), and she's done some infant photography. Her blog address is hatchphotography.blogspot.com (click on "older posts" at the bottom of the page, and the next page has two different posts near the top). She's in the Salt Lake area, but sometimes comes down to Provo area. (Or you can just look at her blog to see Dee's daughter:)

I LOVE peekaboo photos!!!! Well...I have never actually done pictures with them, but I have visited their website numerous times. :) I had a friend who took her newborn there to get photos. She said it was expensive, but she LOVES the pictures. She has told me that it is just a great keepsake. I did see some and they were gorgeous! I want to take my kids there and get their pictures done.
Whatever you decide just make sure you are getting someone with experience. It seems a lot of people these days call themselves photographers and take advantage of innocent people. So, do your homework before you fork over any money!
So, I know you already have a lot of comments on who to go to but let me give you some tips! Make sure you get a cd with all the good shots, and not just 20 or 30. I'm getting into photography and I know some really good people that can do it for you. I would take some for you too but I'm not as good as what you would want. I would look at spending about 110- 120 but no more then that, and that's with a couple hours to get the right shots. I love the ones I got for Lucie and I just got the CD and I use them for everything. Leave me a facebook message if you want to know the photographers I would go to.

Josh does photography. He's done weddings, families, and portraiture, and then just all the photos of our kids. Here is one of my favorites.

His pricing is really good too. And he only has partial copyright on the images - basically all the images are yours (you get a CD) and can use them as many times as you want.

mpix.com has really neat photo printing styles so if you get an image file for your baby's announcement, they'll print really nice quality announcements.

Something I did was make my own birth announcement using Microsoft Publisher. I got ideas from looking at announcements on the internet and then made my own. Then I emailed them out instead of paying to print. Anyway, something to consider if you're really on a tight budget. The only people who might keep the announcement would be close family and friends, so I didn't want to spend a lot of money printing.
Another thing that we're currently doing...my mother wanted to get a family picture taken and just decided to do it at JCPenny's. Well, she ended up buying a 2 year membership package that allows anyone who used her membership card to go get pictures and not pay for sitting fees ('cause it's included in the card price). So, after we took our family pics, Aaron and I took her card and will use it to take 1 yr old photos of Conner and probably 2 year old pics too, and we only pay for the pics we end up buying, not the sitting fees. I'm not sure but it might have included getting the whole CD of photos taken too.
My sister-in-law has a company and she does AWESOME announcements. She just did ours! Check out blonde-designs.com... and thanks for the shout-out of our photographer. I LOVE all the pictures. Make sure to get the photos done in the first 7 days of life... after that they change so much and I LOVE having his little face captured at such a young age.
