Hoodwinked!

For the past month or so, I have been meaning to write a post about Ryan.

But, I hesitated because I wanted to avoid 'bragging'. But then I realized this is our journal, so why not remember?

Ryan is a quite person. He is reserved and very private. He has very few close friends, is fiercely loyal, and rarely shares his thoughts, opinions, and other secrets with others. This might surprise you, but don't let this public forum fool you.

When Ryan started blogging in 2008 I was surprised, but didn't expect him to keep up with it. But he did, and I have been thrilled over the past few years as he has documented our lives from his perspective. He is truly gifted intellectually and absolutely my better half.

Often we get blank looks from our peers when they learn Ryan isn't working. And occasionally, even family. Nope. Currently, at this moment, Ryan isn't 'working' in the traditional sense of the word, even though he has a master's degree. Instead, he takes a full science load, volunteers at the hospital, volunteers at a volunteer care clinic, volunteers and manages a team of interns at the Red Cross, and studies for the MCAT. And, in his spare time, he manages to cook, clean, shop, have fun with Adi and me, and water my plants.

Can I saw wow. I can't even comprehend the time that all takes, but considering 18 hours a week he's doing MCAT stuff, I know he's busy. And, if he's not at school, he's studying and/or volunteering. Sometimes (a lot of the time), Adi and I miss him, but we're grateful he is making such a large sacrifice to invest in our future.

I love Ryan. He is kind and smart, patient and funny. He is my sweetheart. He is my best friend.

Often, men and women complain about their spouses, but I feel blessed to say that I have never had to. He is practically perfect in every way and I have no idea how I hoodwinked him into marrying me.

I love you Ryan.

If that wasn't enough, I came across this graphic that describes Ryan perfectly.

I'm glad we aren't the only family where the man isn't "working" in the traditional sense. Let all those continue to give blank looks while we look at our husbands in awe!

Doing all the stuff preparing for medical school is a full time job in and of itself! You deserve to be proud!
