Growing up back East, I became accustomed to seeing the beautiful deciduous trees everywhere. In fact, if you've ever spent time in Appalachia, you might have felt slightly claustrophobic by the overwhelming number of trees, forests, and all-encompassing Kelly green that surrounded you.
The first time I visited Washington DC, it was so neat. It was wildly different than the plains of the Midwest or the Rockies of the West that I had known previously. I even remember driving along beautiful country roads in Northern Virginia where horse fields turned into beautiful Kelly green canopies that let slivers of light through to the roads below. So serene. So peaceful.
However, I never expected to be so thoroughly overwhelmed by Forrest green when I arrived in Washington state last week.
When I flew into Seattle, I drove from SEA-TAC to the downtown area around 10:30am. Immediately I was surrounded by rolling hills and incredible vistas of Forrest green.
The evergreen trees were everywhere, and I distinctly remember seeing the overcast sky and overwhelming forests surrounding the city and thought, wow. This is beautiful.
It was so wildly different than the Kelly green I was used to, but yet it was absolutely breathtaking.
It has helped me realize and come to an even greater appreciation for the variety and beauty in our world, and I look forward to appreciating it more and more as I have additional opportunities to discover different parts of the world.

I've always wanted to go to the East coast to see the scenery there. I'm hoping one day, Nate and I can make it back there. He actually lived in Virginia too for a little while and says it's beautiful. Glad you enjoyed Seattle. I will admit, I love the green here too. :)
