The Services

Friday was the funeral. It was so peaceful. My parents drove up from Provo, which was nice because they watched Adi for the majority of it. The grandchildren (and spouses) sang "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" and Ryan and his cousin, Amy, shared memories of Grandpa Clark. It was wonderful.

The most emotional part--at least for me--was the closing song, "Highland Cathedral", a Scottish hymn played on the bagpipes, it was beautiful.

The grave-side service was nice as well. The bagpiper played "Amazing Grace" while the pallbearers brought out the casket. The spray of flowers that Jennifer had arranged were incredible! (Wild flowers, glads, even pine bows)

The bagpiper then told the family he had a special tribute for his fellow Scottsman, an arrangement of "Scotland the Brave"--I've always loved that song, but now it will hold special memories for me.

To close we sang "God Be with You 'Till We Meet Again" and Ryan's cousin, Josh, dedicated the grave. It was perfect and peaceful.

Lastly, we each took a red rose and place them on the casket as a final tribute. To me, it was nice because it represented the family and influence that Grandpa Clark had on those closest to him.

The flowers were beautiful--there had to have been 20 or so large, beautiful arrangements. The one on the right was from the grandchildren--it was our tribute to grandpa and we wanted it to look like fireworks with bright, textured flowers.

While it was the least desired circumstances to make a trip to Utah, we were grateful that we were able to drop everything and leave. We are grateful for family who helped make it happen, and happy that we were able to spend time with family. We'll miss you Grandpa Clark.
