The University of Utah

A University of Utah PhD recruiter came to the BYU Marriott School of Management today. I attended the meeting wearing red (not on purpose). He, however, wore blue and white - good call on his part.
It's funny that a Utah recruiter visit marked a turning point in what has been a stagnant pool of pondery about whether to pursue a doctorate degree. This past summer, I confirmed in my mind that I wanted to pursue a PhD, but I had no idea what programs I should pursue. I did not really want to pigeon-hole myself into one specific area of study. However, I am excited about organizational behavior, and believe that it is broad enough to keep me busy researching it for the rest of my life. I find interactions between people, especially in group settings, fascinating.
I have a couple of schools that I would like to consider seriously, Vanderbilt, the U., and Indiana. My key concerns at this point are to get awesome grades, a GRE score in the top 10%, and some stellar letters of recommendation from professors.
So, wish me luck! Here's to the long road ahead and to tenure in about 12 years!
