Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

Okay, it wasn't Mr. Smith. But, that's the feeling I got when we went. It was so exciting to see so much history (both recent and not-so-recent). Here's just a quick review in photos of our recent trip to Washington D.C.

Kenz found out that the cold really is miserable (I just don't like to say that all the time. Well, maybe I do). But, we were able to accomplish a lot for school (most likely we'll be out there this summer again), and we saw a lot of our nation's capital.

The Lincoln Memorial is spectacular at night.
It was worth the sub-freezing temperatures to see it.

The other monuments are equally spectacular at night.

D.C. Traffic. Stay out of it if possible.

We had the chance to go to the temple. It was beautiful!

The Capitol.

The Mansion in Arlington National Cemetary. Below is The Eternal Flame.
RIP JFK

We did enjoy some sunny weather while we were there.

We got stopped for Obama's motorcade. Here's one of many Secret Service cars. Kenz made a movie of this, she'll have to post it later.

The Capitol's dome. "The Apotheosis of Washington".

Of course, The Declaration of Independence.
And no, we did not try to steal it. It was suprisingly faded. Not what I expected after seeing National Treasure so many times.

A view from the Lincoln Memorial at night.

The Hope Diamond. I think I know what McKenzie wants for Christmas this next year.

And last, but not least, the White House.
You can see the snipers on the roof. My dad said that they had a more friendly term given to them. Maybe we could call them The White House Pistoleers?

Well, I hope you have enjoyed some of the pictures of our trip! We absolutely love Washington, and hope to be back this summer with warmer weather! We hope you will all visit, too!

Chocolate is this Thursday at 9:00--same place. We've missed you. And if you're still up for it, treats would be great!

Looks like a great trip! And thanks for all that work you did for the MPA program! Hopefully we can all party out there this summer . . . and work a little too.

Hmmm, Kenz is gonna have to fight me for that diamond!

Good pics- it was nice to see you on Sunday. I hope things work out on the internships.

Haha... maybe we could just split it - it is huge you know. But maybe not. :)

Were you able to see Brent or Shelly at all?
