Birthday Present

I guess I should give a quick update on my birthday. As Kenz mentioned, it was quite the day - full of presentations and stress. Considering one of our professors changed the scope of my team's project about 30 hours from the presentation time (7:45 AM), my team put in some long hours to make it work.

We did a decision and cost-benefit analysis on a building the Church owns in New York, and whether they should resume remodeling work during the recession to take advantage of lower construction prices.

My team had the additional stress that our professor invited someone from the church offices in Salt Lake to our presentation. However, we pulled it off, and were invited to present in Salt Lake sometime in January (Awesome!).

After that was finished, I worked to prepare another presentation with another team for that night, which was a bond issue analysis for a pressurized irrigation system in Mapleton, Utah. And, after that presentation, I had a paper and bond tracking assignment to finish before midnight.

Despite the stress and mess, Kenz tried to make it a good day. We went to breakfast with my team, and I was sung to multiple times (Which I enjoy so much, but not really. Does anyone else feel awkward when sung to? Really, what are you supposed to do?). Also, Kenz gave the best present ever!

This past summer, while we were in the Dominican Republic, I bought this painting in a market. It's on canvas, and we brought it home rolled up. Rolled up is how I thought it would remain for a while, but I was wrong.

Kenz surprised me by having it mounted and framed for my birthday!

Isn't it AWESOME?!?!?!

I was not expecting it at all, and I am so happy with how it looks! Kenz is a great gift-giver, and is always so thoughtful. Best present ever! Thanks, Love! It definitely made the stress of the whole day worth it.

You're a soldier, Ryan. And your presentation with Spork was excellent! I've looked up to you a lot this semester with your amazing ability to handle everything going on in your life.
Good luck finishing it all! Happy birthday, friend!
