Tender Mercies and Amoxicillin

The past couple of days I have been feeling under the weather.

I have had a sore throat, congestion, runny nose, and sneezing, but luckily, no fever. Then, last night I started coughing. I decided that in the morning I would call the University of Utah to get the go-ahead to go to schedule an appointment at the BYU Health Center. So this morning I called the U, and left a message with the Nurse/Midwife asking about the risks of medications and such. About 20 minutes later she got back to me, and said that it was a good idea to take preventive measures rather than risk with things getting worse. She also mentioned that I should have them check my ears and nose and make sure it wasn't an infection.

So, this morning I went to the Health Center and met with a doctor there. The nurse check my vitals, and come to find out I had a fever, and I didn't even know it! Most of the time, I innately know that I'm running a fever, but this time I had no idea. After that, I chatted with the doctor for a few minutes and mentioned that it was probably paranoia for me to come in to which she said, "actually, your right ear is really infected"--wait, what!?

I have an ear infection. I didn't even know. It doesn't hurt, and I didn't think anything like that was wrong. When we were chatting about medications and the diagnosis, I mentioned that I had felt very strongly about coming to the doctor, regardless of the fact that it was just cold symptoms. She mentioned that those promptings are nice and I realized that this was yet another example of the Tender Mercies of the Lord, and I was grateful that I'd listed to the prompting to see the doctor.

So, as of this morning I am pumped full of amoxicillin and guafenecin. Oh the joys. :)
