Blessings and Finding Joy in the Journey

Do you ever feel that there are times in your life when you know the Lord is more aware of your needs. Maybe they are more severe or perhaps more challenging? Now is one of those times in my life. A few weeks into my internship I was feeling discouraged because I didn't understand why the Lord had given me the coveted opportunity to intern with the GAO. It was a great internship, wonderful benefits, and fantastic experience, yet I felt as though someone else might have deserved it or needed it more than I did. Boy was I wrong.

This summer has been a whirlwind of blessings for both myself and my family. The unique aspects of my internship such as understanding supervisors, high pay, sick leave, and flex time have proven to be some of the most incredible blessings I could have received at this point in my life. In fact, looking back, if I had not had this internship, with all of its benefits, I don't know how things would have worked out. Yet, it testifies to the fact that the Lord is there. He knows my needs. He knows my hopes, my dreams, my worries, my fears, my heart, and my deepest desires. He provides for me in ways that can never be predicted. He also knows my family. He comforts them and provides optimism in even the darkest of circumstances, for which I have become increasingly grateful.

I am grateful for friends who are generous, optimistic, and supportive. For an eternal family through a merciful Savior who loves us and enables us to return to our Father in Heaven.

I am grateful for a patient, loving, and kind best friend in the form of my husband and sweetheart, Ryan.

I am grateful for health and strength. For healthy food to eat, a clean bed in which I sleep, and a home in which I find safety. I am grateful for the temple, its beauty, and the peace it brings into my life.

Finally, I am grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For the knowledge that through the Gospel, we can overcome adversity and find joy in the journey through this life.
