Fireworks at the Tidal Basin

Kenz and I decided to go to the Tidal Basin to see the fireworks on the 4th of July. We sat where we could see the Jefferson and Washington Memorials.

We saw fireflies. They are the coolest bugs ever.

I promise I'm not squishing this one. Just picking it up, and it's glowing.

We took some pictures of the monuments.

Then the firework show started.

As we listened to the booming fireworks near the monuments, it was difficult not to think of the lines of the National Anthem:

And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

We are grateful to be living in a country where we have so many freedoms. "Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?"

McKenzie, it's hard to believe that we were watching the parade 2 years ago. Time flies!
