I Think I'll Try Defying Gravity!

I had no idea what the hype behind Wicked was. It was simply because I had never seen it. Kenz and I were able to go see it in Salt Lake on Friday, and it was AMAZING! The cast had incredible voices and the dynamics between Glinda and Elphaba were great! They were so funny! I looked up some of the music on Youtube, and the cast that performed (and is still there until May 3rd) was better than those on Broadway. 

As we waited in the lobby I saw all sorts of souvenirs with the phrase "defying gravity" on them. I thought it was strange, but after the show it became my favorite song and phrase from the show. To me it represented doing what's right and being true to yourself, despite politics or what would have you do. It's about rising above the weight of the world. (And no, I am not an animal activist). I was really surprised to come away from the musical feeling that I had learned a moral lesson, and wanting to be better.
