Love Me Some Peyton Manning

Before I update the world on our past two weeks on the island, I thought I would reference some important things that happened before Adi and I left Utah...

First of all, Heidi and I flew to Denver for the National Resume Writer's Association Conference. (Last year it was in Chicago.)

#whereintheworldismckenzienow

This was a BIG, especially considering we were presenting and it was the reason Ryan headed to Grenada before I did.

The first night we were there, Heidi and I hit up downtown and Sam's #3.

I ordered their Green Chile Burger at the recommendation of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives...

#itseemedlikeagoodideaatthetime #notagoodidea

I also hit up the town with a colleague from back East. Last year in Chicago I was with him when I was legitimately carded for the first time, and this year surprise, surprise, I was carded the second time when we went to a bowling alley!? (Bowling score too pitiful to be divulged.)

The next morning the pre-conference workshops took place, and I started the conference by learning about my "Millennial Ranking" from a Pew Center Research Quiz.

Who knew? Apparently my lack of ink brings my score down...

We joked about the number of shoes a girl needs for a three-day conference...

And about my shameless selfie addiction...

#jokingnotjoking

I got to see Hannah, Andrew, and Casen before I left (only a few days before Casen's 1st Birthday!)

Bought a Broncos hat and it stayed on my head for three days straight. #ilovepeytonmanning #obsessed #nextchildisgoingtobepeyton

Had more fun with this lady...

And apparently set NRWA fashions--this was tweeted by a colleague... something about the skirt, pearls, hat, and flip-flops. (:

After the conference was over, Heidi and spent more time downtown where we ate super yummy food...

Smoked Salmon Salad with a caper sauce... loved (capers were a bit strong), want to recreate this baby!

Eating out with Heidi is not complete without sweet potato fries... (:

As one last hooray, Heidi took me bowling--I NEVER bowl, but twice in one week is pretty amazing.  We had to wait at the bar--yes, Heidi and I ordered water at the bar! (:

And I actually got my bowl on...

Got really close to breaking 100, which for me has NEVER happened. #badbowlerproblems

It really was a great conference and I'm excited to have reconnected with colleagues like Sara...

All in all, Denver was a great trip. I look forward to starting my own consulting firm and the continued relationships I will be able to develop because of it.

BYU Date

Saturday night, Ryan and I headed out to LaVell Edwards Stadium for a very late 8:15pm kick off.

We got there 30 minutes before the start of the game--the earliest I've ever arrived.

We were there for the prayer (despite the drum team's noisy antics).

The national anthem. And, the awesome balloon lift off in honor of Homecoming.

We are alumni after all.

We even got to see the team run out of the tunnel. :)

We sat on the East side of the North Endzone. First ever. The view wasn't too bad, although visiting my parents on row 13 at the 40-yard-line at Halftime was a bit insulting. :)

Ryan and I had fun goofing off. I liked dancing to the songs--to his embarrassment, and he wanted to text "Danger" to the security hotline number. Aren't we a pair.

We had fun photo-boothing. It reminded me of how much I love this guy, and of when we were dating. I knew he was a keeper. Date nights are the best. Love you Ryan!

By George, I Think He's Caught It

November 28, 2009 - A very good day.

1: Got to the game early to put our names on the list to pull "George Q"!

2: The Cougars beat the Utes in an amazing overtime drive!
(Making it the best home-game in our undergraduate/graduate careers.)

3: We (along with 10,000 others) rushed the field to celebrate with our team!

We are BYU!

Gooooo Cougars!

This afternoon, Ryan, Nathan, and I headed out on an adventure to...

Cougar Stadium!

The Cougars played Colorado State, and we won 42-23! We could have played better and yes, there were a few interceptions, but we won, and every win counts! We'll see where our rankings go on Tuesday.

Unlike last week, extra tickets were abundant, so we asked these fabulous people to come with us (which was great, because we have wanted to do something with them for months!)...

Ryan's cousin Megan, cousin-in-law Greg, and their beautiful daughter Emmalee

It turns out it was Greg and Emmalee's first BYU game (he's a recovering former U student, and she's only 6-months old), so it was great to experience their first game with them! It was a good game, and we had fun sitting on the 4th row by the George Q. "Cannon"! It was loud at times, but it didn't even phase little Emmalee! She is such a darling and well-behaved little girl! I loved the little pink BYU shirt she was wearing, and even helped her learn some of the cheers and the fight song of course! And... as always, it was fun to be out with my sweetheart who is one handsome man! I'm such a lucky girl!

Finally, we had wanted to take a belly picture last week at the BYU vs. FSU game, to commemorate Baby Adriel's first BYU game, but were so distraught the entire game, that we didn't catch one. We did however get one tonight. It's not the greatest because of the angle, but here we are at Baby Adriel's second BYU game!

Exciting Fall Weekend - Part 1

BYU Football. I love it, and although the game against Florida State itself was a disappointment, the anticipation and excitement that preceded the game was fabulous. Friday I ran to the bookstore to buy (last-minute of course) BYU football t-shirts, but of course they were sold out... so I called my credit union, and they had some! It was fun to have matching shirts and to have student tickets again. It's the last year, why not indulge? Let's just hope that the next football game is better than the last. (Cross your fingers.)

Anyway we forgot our camera, but I had my phone, so we snapped this picture. Isn't Ryan handsome!? He is such a wonderful man, and I am such a lucky girl to be married to him!

Rise and Shout!

September 19, 2009 Provo, Utah will be alive with excitement! The leaves on Y Mountain will be on fire and the fall frenzy will begin. What frenzy you may ask? Why the BYU Football Frenzy of course! Ryan and I bought All Sport Passes for the first time in 4 years this week, and enough guest passes to have friends and family along for some classic Cougar entertainment.

I don't know what I think about the game day t-shirt this year, but the poster is awesome! (Gotta love the salt flats.)

Go Cougars!

The Holy War

Kenz and I decided to stay up in the Salt Lake area to watch the BYU-Utah game at grandpa Davies' house. We suffered as we watched our mighty cougars become the not-so-mighty cougars who choked during the second half (Max Hall?!?!? What happened??!?!?!!?!?!?!!?!!!!). However, we were consoled by our Ute fan relatives, and wished better luck next year. So, yeah, better luck next year, Cougars, and congrats Utes on your much-deserved win. Until next year!

Ryan and I painted these and put them together from scratch!

After the Super Saturday extravaganza, Ryan and I went to the BYU vs. UNM game at Lavell Edwards Stadium with my family. It was fun, although the score could have been better... either way, we won!
